Flash/Upgrade TPlink WA5210G to Ubiquiti Nano Station 2

Hello Internet,
Today I am going to write on, “How to Flash/Upgrade TPlink WA5210G to Ubiquiti Nano Station 2”.
First of all let’s talk, why we are interested to do this.
As UBNT is one of the famous wireless equipment maker companies. And on the other hand, TPlink concentrate more on price than quality.
In my personal experience I found that, TPlink devices takes more delay in request processing then UBNT. In my personal point of view, the algorithms used in TPlink’s software are not good then UBNT.
So finally most of the UBNT’s lovers want to use TPlink’s outdoor AP (WA5210g) in UBNT’s taste.
For this, I am going to show you how you can flash it.
NOTE:
Before doing this there are some important things that you should keep in mind,
  • After flashing/upgrading to UBNT, you could not be come back to TPlink again.
  • It will only be work with TPlink 5210’s version 01.
  • In this all process do not power off your device.
  • This is not officially recommended, so we are not responsible in case of any damage of your hardware/software.
Let’s start,
(I am going to show on Windows 7)
Step 1:  Download Software/UBNT firmware package from here Download.
Step 2:  Reset your TPlink WA5210g by pressing/holding “reset” button on it.
Step 3:  Manually change your IP address to 192.168.1.2

Step 4:  Check ping with “ping 192.168.1.254 –t” command.

Step 5: Extract downloaded software package, open “prog5210” file and press “Next”.

Step 6:  press again “Next”

Step 7:  Press “Check host” button hand compare things like this,

Step 8:  Then open “MAC.txt” file from extracted folder and copy and paste MAC and MD5 into the below fields accordingly. And then press “Next”.

Step 9:  Press “Flash it”

Step 10:                Wait some time, until completion of the process.

Step 11:                Write 192.168.1.20 (UBNT’s default IP) and (Username = ubnt, Password = ubnt) and press “login”.

Step 12:                Go on the “System” tab and upload newly firmware’s file from extracted folder.

That’s all,
Now it’s ready to use, you can now use it as Nano Station M2… EEEEnjoy….

Now i can't reset it (Lights doesnt change when i press reset button), power and lan lights are working. The IP 192.168.1.254 doesnt work and it doesn't ping (deafault ip to enter to device page) BUT After setting a Static ip (for example 192.168.1.254) I can ONLY ping on 192.168.1.20. i am running again airOS programm with the Ip host (192.168.1.20) but it says put old MAC ADRESS there.I got my old adress but i dont know what to do after that.Is there any way to return it to the old firmware or better to get airos on this device because the device is now useless There is a picture:

  3. I have 3 WA5210G V1 units that have started crashing about once every 24 hours. I have flashed one to the Ubiquity software and it now has been running for 2.5 days. If this continues to work, I plan to do the others. This may have saved me a bunch of money. Thanks for effort it took to make this work.
